This transition comes at a crucial time for Bangladesh, which is already the world’s second-largest exporter of ready-made garments (RMG). The textile sector remains the backbone of its economy, contributing the majority of export earnings and employing millions of workers.
Industry experts highlight that Bangladesh can no longer rely solely on low-cost manufacturing. With rising competition from countries like Vietnam and increasing global demand for high-performance and sustainable apparel, the focus is now on value addition through innovation.
