Indian Army Patents New Combat Uniform to Prevent Misuse and Protect Soldiers

The Indian Army has officially patented its new combat uniform to prevent misuse and ensure its exclusive use by registered personnel. This step comes after several instances where similar uniforms were found being sold openly in markets and online platforms. Such availability posed a serious security threat, as it increased the chances of impersonation during sensitive operations. With the patent in place, the Army now has legal protection against unauthorised manufacturing, selling, or reproduction of the uniform, strengthening national security.
According to Army officials, the new combat uniform has been specially designed to improve comfort, mobility, and camouflage in different terrains. It features a digital pattern that makes it difficult to replicate or forge. The material is lightweight, more breathable, and better suited for long-duration missions. Soldiers have also reported that the uniform offers improved durability compared to the previous version. By securing its patent, the Army ensures that the approved design remains unchanged and is produced only by authorised vendors.
The patent gives the Army legal rights to take strict action against manufacturers or retailers who attempt to copy or sell look-alike uniforms. Authorities will now be able to track counterfeit products and block their supply at the market level. This move is expected to significantly reduce the circulation of fake military clothing that could be used for criminal activities or deceive civilians. The Army has also planned to create an awareness drive for shop owners to avoid stocking such items.
With this step, the Army aims to strengthen internal security and maintain high standards of discipline within the force. Only approved vendors will be allowed to supply the patented uniform, ensuring quality control and authenticity. The Army has urged the public to report any misuse or suspicious sale of military attire immediately.
